Employee Communications

Employees who have a valid email address and phone number, and have not opted out of either communication method will receive notifications from WorkStep when eligible.

  • The email address from which employees will receive surveys is feedback@workstep.com
  • The email address from which employees will receive Inform messages is no-reply@inform.workstep.com
  • The phone number from which employees will receive SMS messages: +1-833-409-8422

Welcome Email

All employees, when initially added to WorkStep, will receive a Welcome Email to introduce them to WorkStep and familiarize associates with our communication methods. Welcome Emails are sent within approximately two days of data being uploaded, and are sent at 5p EST/2p PST.

Notification of New Survey

When an associate becomes eligible for a survey, WorkStep will send a notification by email and SMS, linking the employee to a webpage where questions will be presented to answer. These automated notifications are sent to employees at 2p local.

Milestone Survey Reminders

If an employee has not started or has only partially completed a Day 7 - Day 180 milestone survey, WorkStep will send daily reminders for up to five days after the initial notification. A total of four reminders are sent after the initial notification - two via email and two via sms, alternating delivery methods each day.

Recurring survey reminders differ slightly in that WorkStep will send reminders by email and SMS simultaneously for the first reminder, and by email only for the last reminder.

Point-in-Time Survey Reminders

Reminders for Point-in-Time surveys are configurable at the time of the survey's setup, but should follow our recommended schedule:

  • 7 days left to complete your survey
  • 5 days left to complete your survey
  • 3 days left to complete your survey
  • 1 day left to complete your survey
  • Last Day to complete your survey

All reminders for Point-in-Time surveys are sent by SMS and Email simultaneously.

Exit Survey Notifications

Employees who have a termination date pre-dating the receipt of the data upload that informs WorkStep of their termination will receive their Exit survey within 24 hours. If the data upload informs WorkStep of an employee who has a termination date in the future, their Exit survey will be sent within 24 hours of the termination date by SMS and Email.

Reminders to complete an Exit survey are sent by SMS and Email after the first day, and then only by Email after the second day.

Inform Messages

When creating a message through our Inform feature, you'll have the ability to choose precise segments of employees who will receive the message. Employees who meet attribute conditions for those segments will receive your Inform message by Email, and will receive a link to view the message by SMS.

Opting Out of Communications

Employees who receive surveys are always given the option to opt-out of future notifications and communications from WorkStep.

  • SMS: Opting out via SMS will disable future notifications from sending to the employee by SMS.
  • Email: Opting out of email notification disables future notifications for both SMS and Email.
  • Employees who opted out of SMS notifications by texting "STOP" can opt back into receiving WorkStep notifications can text START to +1-833-409-8422
  • Employees who opted out of email notifications by clicking the Unsubscribe button will need to reach out to a user of WorkStep to open a ticket with our Customer Support team.
